Welcome to Andy's Adventures - I hope that I can share my experiences and memories with all of you who follow my blog. There are many things that you learn as you walk through life, and my goal is to pass some of those things along.
This was one of the largest cathedrals (some 135m/443 ft. long) built in Europe in the 19th century. It has mosaic floors and red-and-white marble banners, and the exterior is in a Romanesque-Byzantine style. The domes and cupolas may remind you of Istanbul. This vast pile has almost swallowed its 12th-century Romanesque predecessor, built on the ruins of a Temple of Diana.
